ALP held its October monthly meeting at the
The meeting started at around 3:45pm with Jett Aguilar giving a lecture on Astro Webcam Imaging. He started by discussion on the aspect of using a webcam such as Philips Toucam to image the planets such as Mars , Jupiter and Saturn. Then he touches on using the popular stacking shareware program, Registax and how it help improve the webcam images by stacking the acquired images to give a final good image. He then show also his latest Mars images to the delight of the group. Afterwards, Jett also tackled on the October 17th partial lunar eclipse with James and how one can expect on observing this mild (less than 7% eclipsed) eclipse. After the discussion, it was time for some snacks in which host Alice prepared some delicious Lomi to the group. Alexander also brought some cakes to share with the group as well. The group then continues to discuss on aspect of astronomy while having their snack. At around 7:00pm, the almost quarter phased Moon is peering out of the clouds so the group use that opportunity also to do some casual Moon observation with the use of Alice's Celestron C90 Maksutov-Cassegrain telescope on alt-azimuth mount. The meeting ended at around 8:00pm.
