The 2nd ALP 9 Ball Billiards Tournament was held on July 9, 2006 at Playdium Bowling and Billiards Corporation at Araneta Avenue, Quezon City.  Among the ALPers who participated in the tournament were ALP president James Kevin Ty, Treasurer Allen Yu, Jonathan Alcartado, Henry So, and Joey Grajeda.  ALPers Max Sacro and Tommy Tan were there to watch and support the group. Another Participant, Raymund Sarmiento who had confirmed his participation on this tournament was penalized for no-show because of   last minute work schedule that forced him to make last minute withdrawal and thus also lose by default.

Pre-game meeting to discuss the rules of the game was initiated by James Kevin Ty at around 1:00 to 1:30pm with fellow participants.  After all the participants agreed to the proposed rules.  Game proper started at around 2:00pm.

The 5 participants started game with a single round robin race to 3 match (Best of 5 series) elimination round that pitted each player against the rest of the group.  The elimination round took more than 2 hours to conclude because of quality skills being showed by the players! The purpose for the elimination round is to select the top 4 players that will advance to the semi-final round wherein the score card will be reset and another round of race to 3 will be done by the 4  remaining players to determine who among the 2 of them will advance tot he finals for the championship match. after the gruelling elimination round, Henry So top the round with a perfect 4-0 win-loss score, followed by James Kevin Ty and Joey Grajeda with identical 2-2 score.   Allen Yu and Jonathan Alcartado got identical 1-3 score . But due to a sudden important appointment that Joey Grajeda needs to attend, he was eliminated by default thus allowing Allen Yu and Jonathan Alcartado to enter the next round amid a 1-3 slate.

The semi-finalist started with Allen Yu, Jonathan Alcartado, Henry So and James Kevin Ty battling it out to see who among them will enter the finals. After an hour, James and Henry emerged with identical 2-1 win-loss slate while Jonathan and Allen got identical 1-2 slate.  Based from the win loss card, James and Henry moved into the championship round while Jonathan and Allen fight for the 2nd runner up.  Both rounds are played with a race to 7 (best of 13 series)

The championship and 2nd Runner-Up round was sort of a massacre! James defeated Henry with a convincing 7-1 score to secure the crown once again while Allen beat Jonathan by a score of 7-2 as well to get the 2nd Runner-Up trophy.  James was happy to win  the championship 2 years in a row.

The awarding of the trophies as well as P1000 to the champion will be awarded  during the August 6 monthly meeting at Manila Planetarium.   Congratulations to James, Henry and Allen for winning the  ALP 9 ball tournament! More power!
