The agenda was about the preparation for the upcoming National Astronomy Week (NAW) 2008, which was to be held from February 17 to 23, at the Science Discovery Center, located at Mall Of Asia. The theme that was agreed upon for this year is "Rediscovering the Universe".  This is in connection with next year's International Year of Astronomy.

ALPers brainstormed about the activities to give for its opening day.  Initially, there will be two lectures -- one will come from ALP President James Kevin Ty, who will be giving basic digital astrophotography.  The other lecture will be on "Celestial Highlights for the Week", which will be handled by NAW 2008 Chairman Peter Benedict Tubalinal and Kristy Ann Abello.  Two rooms will be provided.  One will be for the lectures, and the other for the ALP Photo Exhibit.

A stargazing session will be part of its activities after the lectures.  ALPers who will be bringing their telescopes are:  James Kevin Ty, Vice President Jett Aguilar, Nathaniel Custodio, Irving Raymundo, Auditor Brian Davis, Edgar Ang, Kristy Ann Abello, Peter Benedict Tubalinal, Maximo Sacro, and the Manila Planetarium staff.

Initially, Mall of Asia requested stargazing sessions to be held at their place on Feb.17 (opening day), 22, and 23.  Additional manpower volunteers from ALP are P.R.O. Rich Pijuan, Membership chairwoman Angie Tan, Ways and Means chairwoman Melisa Bata, Omar Turqueza, and Bel Pabunan.

Additional discussion regarding stargazing session to be held at a hotel resort in Clark on February 8-9, 2008 was also discussed.  More info to follow after proper channel and further meetings will be made in the days to come.
