The 4th ALP 9 Ball Billiards Tournament was held on July 18, 2010 at Playdium Bowling and Billiards Corporation at Araneta Avenue, Quezon
City. Among the ALPers participating in the tournament were ALP
president James Kevin Ty, Treasurer Henry So, Andrew Ian Chan,
Aldrin Palacio, Director Edward Eli Tan, Rommel Palacpac and Babak
Parhizkari.
Unfortunately, ALPers Rommel Palacpac
(Flu), Babak Parhizkari (Flu) and Edward Eli Tan (Tired fro long Baguio
business trip) had to default their participation of the event :( With
the rules stating the defaulted participants still has to pay their
registration fee as penalty, both 3 players agree to the decision and will
remit next meeting or earlier their dues.
Pre-game meeting to discuss the rules of the
game was initiated by James Kevin Ty at around 2:30pm. After all the participants agreed to the proposed rules. Game
proper started at around 3:00pm.
The event started with a single round robin race to
5 match (Best of 7 series) elimination round that pitted each player
against the rest of the group. The elimination round took more than 3.5 hours to
conclude because of quality skills being showed by the players! The purpose for the
elimination round is to select the top 2 players that will advance to the
advance to the
race to 7 (Best of 15 series) championship round to determine this year's 9 ball champion.
After the
exhausting elimination round, James, Henry and Aldrin
are all tied and supporting an identical 1-2 score, they figured in a
best of 3 qualifying knock out matches based on quotient system which
resulted in James having a higher +9 points against Henry's +8 and Aldrin's
+5 points thus getting a bye and will meet against the winner of the Henry /
Aldrin match.
Henry won over Aldrin with a score of 3-2
to face James in the last knock out match in which James winning 3-0 against
Henry and moving to the finals with early birder Andrew Ian Chan awaiting
James in the final round. Henry So and
Aldrin Palacio settled to fight for 2nd runner-up award.

the finals round. |
The championship round was
a tight match with Andrew defeating James with a 7-5 score to
secure the crown . On the other hand, the fight for 2nd runner-up round was
also a tight match with Henry winning over Aldrin with a score of
5-2.
The awarding of the trophies will be
awarded on the August monthly
meeting at Manila Planetarium. Congratulations to Andrew, James
and Henry for winning this year's ALP 9
ball tournament! More power!
