Last July 10, ALP held their monthly meeting at Exploreum at SM Mall of Asia. Members who attended were ALP President James Kevin Ty and son Kendrick Cole KC Ty; Secretary Christopher Louie Lu, wife Karren and daughter Frances Lu ;  Treasurer Andrew Ian Chan, PRO Edge Lat & daughter Trizha Elise Lat , directors John Ray Cabrera and wife Noreen Cabrera;  Shubhashish Banerjee , Ronald Sison and sons Ray and Raj Sison ; Justine Garcia, Mark Ian Singson, Melsejoy Degala, Fung Yu, Edwin Gatia and Michella Esparas.  Meeting started at around 3:30pm with ALP Secretary Christopher Louie Lu giving a lecture on Juno Mission to Jupiter.

Just before a year after New Horizons flew pass Pluto, the Juno Probe was launched in 2011, used Earths gravity as a 'sling shot' on October 2013 & on July 04, 2016 finally reached the largest planet of the solar system. The Juno Probe is the 2nd mission under NASA's New Frontiers Program & also the 2nd dedicated probe to study Jupiter after the Galileo Mission in 1993. Other probes flew by the Jovian planet on its way to other destinations in the solar system such as Pioneer 10 & 11, Voyager 1 & 2, Cassini & more recently, New Horizon.  We know a lot about Jupiter but there is also a lot that we don't know. With this latest mission to Jupiter we hope to discover and answer some of the basic questions not just about the planet Jupiter but also about our solar system. Such as:

- Does Jupiter have a central core? Which will help narrow down how the planet was formed.
- How much water is in its atmosphere? Which helps researchers understand how big planets were created.
- How is it possible that huge weather systems remain so stable?
- What is the nature of the magnetic field & plasma surrounding Jupiter?

Since, its successful Jupiter Orbital Insertion (JOI) last July 4, 2016, the Juno probe & its science team at NASA is now initializing its science instruments to start its first of 39 orbits around the largest planet. Not just to take hi-res images of the Jovian cloud cover but to also take data on its Magnetic, Gravity & Plasma fields. We hope to know more & probably rewrite our science books once Juno completes its mission.

Afterwards, ALP director and Events chairperson Iah Serna brief the members on ALP upcoming 18th anniversary get together lunch party on September 11, 2016 at Vikings SM MOA .  This was proceeded by ALP President James Kevin Ty introducing balikbayan ALPer Edwin Gatia to the members. This was followed by member's brief introduction so fellow ALPer Edwin Gatia will know them. ALPer Edwin then was urged by members to give his story on his UFO chronicles which he made a book out of it and available at Amazon. It was a lively discussion between him and the members.

BTW, this meeting also mark the first time an ALP Meeting has gone live via Facebook and the video clips can be viewed at :
