     NATIONAL ASTRONOMY WEEK 2008 CLOSING ACTIVITY IMAGES

Below are images taken at the closing activity of the National Astronomy Week 2008 at the SM Science Discovery Center in SM Mall of Asia. Click each image for bigger view. Please note that there are lots of images thus it might take a while for all of them to be viewed. Nevertheless, it's worth the wait!!!

 

The lecture room was all filled up for the Basic Astrophotography Lecture at the Science Discovery Center.

ALP President James Kevin Ty presented the lecture  on the Basic Digital Astrophotography Workshop.

ALP President James Kevin Ty and Astrophysics enthusiast Edward Go had a nice discussion on the observatory project for SM.

Dr. Armand Lee together with his wife Mia posed with Edward Go and James Kevin Ty.  Dr. Lee happens to be at the area  after their medical convention at PICC en route to his stargazing session that evening.

Planetarium staffs brought along their C8 SCT  to show to crowd the magnificent Saturn.

ALPers Edgar Ang and Bel Pabunan posed beside his Orion XT6 dobsonian reflector which shows one of the best Saturn view of the night.

ALPer Edgar Ang guides viewers on what object they are viewing at his scope.

More than 4000 viewers attended the observing session that evening which lasted more than 4 hours.  A total of 10 telescopes were setup that evening.

ALP Secretary Alice Villa-Real (at the scope) and PRO Rich Pijuan shows the beautiful Pleiades star cluster using her wide field Orion ST-80 refractor.

ALP Auditor Brian Davis brought along his C8 SCT as well as Skywatcher 80ED refractor that evening.

RTU BS Astronomy Technology students Fermin de Jesus Naelga, Jr. (left) and Lordnico P. Mendoza (right) enjoy the view at the ALP Astrophoto Exhibit .

ALPer Irving Raymundo points the ALP's Meade 8" SCT at the rising Gibbous Moon.

ALPer Jon Alcartado aims his Skywatcher 6" Newtonian reflector at the planet Saturn.

Brian's C8 SCT is pointed at the red planet Mars.

Jon assisted a child in viewing the Moon.

ALP President's son KC got also his chance to look at the Moon!

ALP President's family as well as relative were also there to celebrate NAW with the group.

ALPers Alfonso Sy (left) and Edgar Ang (right) had a great time sharing the night sky with the crowd.
