April 11, 2010 ALP Monthly Meeting  Report

Last April 11, 2010, members of the Astronomical League of the Philippines (ALP) held their monthly meeting at the Manila Planetarium at 3:00pm.  Members who attended were ALP President James Kevin Ty  and son Kendrick Cole (KC) Ty, PRO Armando Lee, wife Myra Lee and son Jason Lee, director Peter Benedict Tubalinal ,wife Marie Joy , Pejvak Parhizkari,  Desiree del Rosario, Andrew Ian Chan, Dennis Buenviaje, Dante Cruz, Romel Palacpac, Christopher Louie Lu , Marc Ian Singson, Michael Cruspero, Kevin Dagunan, Crispin Riosa, Mark Anthony Honrade, Rosalyn Penol.

The meeting started at around 3:30pm with ALP President James Kevin Ty introducing ALPer Pejvac Parhizkari as the meeting's lecturer.  His topic is entitled " Applying Time Lapse Technique into Astrophotography."  He started out with an introduction of what time lapse photography is and how it can be applied into astrophotography. He details out what equipment and software that are needed to start out into this specialize field of astrophotography.  He ended his lecture by sharing some of his beautiful and magnificent time lapse photography on astronomy related subjects as well as nature.

Afterwards, Messier Marathon Coordinator Peter Benedict Tubalinal gives a summary report of the just concluded ALP Philippine Messier Marathon 2010 Open last March 13-14, 2010.  He indicated that it was the biggest attended activity in Messier Marathon event in  terms of  participants and attendees which reached about 38.  They hope this figure will be broken again as more and more members and guests become more interested into this activity.

Peter then presented the Messier Certificates to the qualified participants which are as follows:

ALPer Pejvac Parhizkari giving an interesting lecture on applying time lapse techniques into astrophotography.	ALP NAW 2010 Chairman Peter Benedict Tubalinal made a summary report of the just concluded ALP Messier Marathon 2010 Open.
ALP Messier Marathon Coordinator Peter Benedict Tubalinal presented the Basic Messier Certificate to ALPer Mark Anthony Honrade.	ALP Messier Marathon Coordinator Peter Benedict Tubalinal presented the Basic Messier Certificate to ALPer Michael Cruspero.
ALP Messier Marathon Coordinator Peter Benedict Tubalinal presented the Basic Messier Certificate to ALPer Crispin Riosa.	ALP Messier Marathon Coordinator Peter Benedict Tubalinal presented the Basic Messier Certificate to ALPer Kevin Dagunan.
ALP Messier Marathon Coordinator Peter Benedict Tubalinal presented the Intermediate Level Messier Certificate to ALPer  Christopher Lee.  His brother, ALP PRO Armando Lee receive the certificate on his brother's behalf.	ALP President James Kevin Ty  presented the Honorary  Messier Certificate to ALP Messier Marathon Coordinator Peter Benedict Tubalinal.

The meeting ended at around 5:30pm.
