February 6, 2011 ALP Monthly Meeting  Report

Last February 6, members of the Astronomical League of the Philippines (ALP) held their monthly meeting at the Manila Planetarium at 3:00pm.  Members who attended were ALP President James Kevin Ty ,  Charito Ty and son Kendrick Cole (KC) Ty, VP Jett Aguilar, PRO Armando Lee , Myra Lee  and son Jason Lee, Treasurer / NAW Chairman Andrew Ian Chan , directors Edgar Ang, Christopher Lee, Henry So, Special Events Chairman Christopher Louie Lu, John Ray Cabrera, Bel Pabunan, Desiree del Rosario , Peter Benedict Tubalinal, Kevin Dagunan, Mark Ian Singson, Vincent Lao, and new members Renato dela Pena and Victor Espartero.

Meeting proper started at around 4:00pm with ALP Chairman Andrew Ian Chan discussing the final preparation of the 3rd Philippine Astronomy Convention 2011 (PAC) to be held on February 20-26, 2011.  Participating with ALP for these activities are Nido Fortified Science Discovery Center , National Museum Planetarium, Astrocamp Observatory,  Cutting Edge and Rizal Technological University.

*Note:   The organizers of this event will not be held liable in case poor sky conditions cannot permit actual observation.

               Instead, participants will be treated to exhibits of different setups for doing observation and imaging techniques.

ALPers are encourage to bring their scope so that they can share the night sky with the public on both dates to enjoy the view of the heavens.  Also needed are manpower to help man the telescope as well.

Also discussed is the official date and venue of the 5th ALP Philippine Messier Marathon 2011 to be held on April 2-3, 2011 at Caliraya , Laguna.

The meeting ends at 6pm.
