June 3, 2012 ALP Monthly Meeting Report

Last June 3, members of the Astronomical League of the Philippines (ALP) held their monthly meeting at Manila Planetarium.  Members who attended were ALP President James Kevin Ty , Charito Ty and son Kendrick Cole KC Ty ,  VP Jett Aguilar, Secretary  Christopher Louie Lu , PRO Armando Lee with wife Mia and son Jason Lee; director Edgar Ang, John Ray Cabrera, Bel Pabunan, Liza Quitlong, Norman Marigza, Pia Cuarteros, Jan Karlo Hernandez, Arnel Campos, ,Kaye Banaag & dad Alberto Banaag,  Ronald Sison with wife  Adriel, children Adrian, Aleecia and Aldrin.

Meeting proper started at around 3:30pm with ALP VP Jett Aguilar summarizing the June 4, 2012 Partial Lunar Eclipse as well as the June 6, 2012 Venus Transit,  He touched on the times of circumstances as well as how rare Venus Transit is in our lifetime! He also touched on how to observe the Venus transit safely with safe solar filters.

Afterwards, ALP PRO Armando Lee discussed the previous 2004 Venus Transit as well as the logistics of the ALP Venus Transit Luneta team that they will set up at the back of Rizal Monument.

ALP VP Jett Aguilar discussed on the June 4, 2012 Partial Lunar Eclipse as well as June 6, 2012 Venus Transit,	ALP PRO Armando Lee discussed the previous 2004 Venus Transit as well as the logistics of ALP Venus Transit Luneta Team.
ALPers listen and took down notes and tips on how to observe the Venus Transit safely.	ALP President James Kevin Ty discussed the successful ALP eclipse expedition team to document and image the May 21, 2012 Annular Solar Eclipse in Xiamen , Fujian, China.

Lastly, ALP President James Kevin ty discussed the just concluded May 21, 2012 Annular Solar Eclipse that the ALP Xiamen team which consist of James, Jett Aguilar and Mark Vornhusen were able to successfully document and imaged.  Also discussed were summarized partial eclipse reports of various ALP teams in the Philippines as well as in Utah, New Mexico, USA.  Overall, it was a great success by ALP in documenting and imaging this beautiful astro event!  James also announced the members of the ALP Venus Transit Binondo Team that consist of James, Andrew Ian Chan, Iah Serna, Berenice Viola Chan, Alberto Lao, Edgar Ang and new ALPer Marvy Gulapa.

Meeting ended at around 5:45pm.
