May 5, 2013 ALP Monthly Meeting Report

Last May 5, members of the Astronomical League of the Philippines (ALP) held their monthly  meeting at Manila Planetarium.  Members who attended were ALP President James Kevin Ty , wife Charito and son Kendrick Cole KC Ty ; VP Jett Aguilar , Mike Enage, Ronald Sison, Per Edman, Josh Abejero, Miguel Enrique Cajita & dad Trix, Jason Comia, Aileen Rose Sasot, Justine Mae Garcia & parents, Liza Quitlong and Marlon Monzon.

Meeting proper started at around 3:30pm with ALP President James Kevin Ty welcoming ALP's 2 new members to their monthly meeting.  This was followed by individual short introduction of each other so that members will get to know each other. Afterwards, VP Jett Aguilar gave an interesting lecture on planetary imaging.  He discuss the various cameras and webcams that can be used for planetary imaging.  He also mentioned our very own ALPer Christopher Go, Donald Parker and Damian Peach as some of the great amateur astronomers whose planetary imaging works can rival that of the professional works.  Also discussed  by him are some steps on how to use AstroStakkert 2 and other image processing software to enhance your planetary images.

Lastly, ALP President James Kevin Ty  invited members to their planned May 11th Caliraya stargazing session. The meeting ended at around 5:30pm.
