December 8, 2013 ALP Annual Meeting / Election / Xmas Party Report

Last December 8, members of the Astronomical League of the Philippines (ALP) celebrated their Annual Meeting / Election / Xmas Party at Manila Planetarium. Members who were present were ALP President James Kevin Ty , wife Charito and son Kendrick Cole KC Ty; ALP VP Jett Aguilar, ALP Treasurer Andrew Ian Chan, ALP Secretary Christopher Louie Lu, wife Karren and daughter Frances ; ALP Auditor Edgar Ang, ALP director Arnel Campos and wife Michelle Campos; Ronald Sison with wife Adriel, children Adrian, Aleecia & Aldrin; Vincent Gella, Norman Marigza, Dodi Maralit, Alfredo Junca , Per Edman and family, Miguel Enrique Cajita & Family ;Jake Ramos, Oliver de Guzman, Mark Vornhusen & wife Arlene; Mike Enage, Iah Serna, Gary Andreassen & wife Irma; Jason Comia, Alberto Lao & wife Nonie ; Liza Quitlong.

The party started at around 12:30pm with lots of food preparations brought along by fellow ALP members (potluck) while ALP auditor Edgar Ang handles the registration as well as voting process. At around 1:30pm, ALPer Ronald Sison's son Adrian, lead the prayer invocation before the start of the party.

Afterwards, ALP President James Kevin Ty then welcome ALPers and their families to the yearender ALP annual meeting and Xmas party. He then announce that the only 4 out of the 6 nominees shall be elected to join the current active ALP Board of Directors for 2014. They were re-electionists Melisa Bata, Andrew Ian Chan, Christopher Lee and Peter Benedict Tubalinal and will be joined by new nominees Gary Andreassen and Mike Enage. He also make special mention to ALPer Oliver de Guzman for his attendance as he has to travel from Pangasinan to Manila just to be with fellow ALPers on the general meeting!

At around 2:30pm, they started with their annual ALP Bingo game :) This year's prizes were a Celestron Sky Master 15x70 binoculars, Celestron Up Close 10x50 binoculars, 50mW rechargeable green laser pointer, Celestron Adjustable Red LED flashlight. Door prizes also include digital multi function clock, Coleman water jug and LED flashlights / laser pointers.

The first game that was played was pattern A with the Celestron Adjustable Red LED flashlight which was won by ALPer Albert Lao's wife Nonie; Second game was played with the L pattern with the prize of the 50mW rechargeable green laser pointer, which was won by ALPer Jake Ramos ; Third game was played with pattern P with the prize of Celestron Up Close 10x50 binoculars, which was won by ALP President James Kevin Ty's son Kendrick Cole Ty ; The 4th game was played with a Blackout Game with the top prize of Celestron Sky Master 15x70 binoculars, and was won again by last year's blackout winner Miguel Enrique Cajita. What a winner! In return, Miguel's mom then offered to donate one original NASA cap as a door prize to be raffled off as well.

On the door prizes raffle games, the digital multi function clock was won by ALP Treasurer Andrew Ian Chan, Coleman Water Jug by ALPer Jason Comia, 5 LED flashlights / laser pointers were won by ALPers Charito Ty, Iah Serna, Edgar Ang, Karren Lu and Norman Marigza. The donated NASA cap was won by ALPer Per Edman, which will be turn over to Per on January monthly meeting.

The party ended at around 6:30pm .
