Last June 22, members of the Astronomical League of the Philippines (ALP) proceeded to Rajah Sulayman Park to celebrate International SunDay Solar Observation together with more than 20+ nations in celebrating this event.  This event was created by Pamela Shivak and Stephen Ramsden of Charlie Bates Solar Astronomy Project to promote public awareness on our planet's closest star, the Sun.  Members who attended the event were ALP President James Kevin Ty with wife Charito ad son Kendrick Cole KC Ty; VP Jett Aguilar, Secretary Christopher Louie Lu with wife Karen and daughter Frances ; Auditor Edgar Ang, directors Peter Benedict Tubalinal , Rich Pijuan & Arnel Campos ; Ronald Sison, Mark Vornhusen and wife Arlene ; Miguel Cajita with parents Trix and Mel Cajita ; Jake Ramos, Vincent Gella and dad; Edge Lat , Norman Marigza together with memebrs of RTU Astronomical Society and Solar Observation Program.

They arrive at the site at around 2:30pm and set up their equipment. ALP President James Kevin Ty brought along his WO Megrez 90FD refrtactor on Vixen GP-DX mount ; VP Jett Aguilar brought along his Celestron Nexstar 5i SCT ; Secretary Christopher Louie Lu with his Celestron C80 refractor on EQ-2 mount ; director Arnel Campos brought his C127 Newtonian reflector on EQ-2 mount ; Ronald Sison with his Celestron C90 on EQ-2 mount ; Miguel Cajita with his Celestron C130 Newtonian reflector on EQ-2 mount ; Justine Garcia brought along her Celestron C130 Newtonian reflector on EQ-2 mount ;  Mark Vornhusen brought along his Coronado PST-Ha and NatGeo 50mm refractor on sturdy tripods.

The sky initially was not cooperating as it was overcast ,  But after 3:15pm, the clouds started to break up and they were able to let the public get a good view of the Sun both in white light and in Ha wavelength. Around 100 people were able to get a chance to view our nearest star before they packed up their scopes at around 5:30pm when the Sun sets into a very thick horizon clouds.  Overall, it was a success despite the iffy weather that afternoon.  ALP would also like to thank Stephen Ramsden of CBSAP for providing solar glasses for the public to get a view of the Sun with their naked eyes as well.
