April 22, 2018 ALP GAM SUNDay Free Solar Viewing Session Report

Last April 22, Astronomical League of the Philippines (ALP) celebrated Global Astronomy Month with the SUNDay Free Solar Viewing at SM By The Bay at SM Mall of Asia , Pasay City. Members who were present are ALP President James Kevin Ty  and son Kendrick Cole KC Ty;  director Peter Benedict Tubalinal , Mark Ian Singson, and Adi Bontuyan.

They arrived at the location at around 3:00pm. James brought along a Canon EF100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 IS L lens ith Daystar Quark Chromosphere Ha Filter mounted on a sturdy tripod ; Mark with his Celestron Travel Scope 70mm refractor ith Baader Solar Filter on sturdy tripod. A small AR2706 Sunspot Group was observed through white light and H-Alpha wavelength as well as a moderate size solar prominence. Around 200+ people got to view the Sun.

At around 6:00pm. they called it a day and had a group shot taken before packing up and going home.
